Socrates is absolutely the best. The nicest family runs it and the food is delicious, hot and fresh. Whenever I go there, someone always helps me out to my car, holding the door for me. Service like that is just not common anymore! I've used the delivery service on occasion and the order has always gotten here when they said it would.

Absolutely the best, one of my favorites, eat there all the time !!! I could not say enough about Soc's Pizza, I must eat there at least twice a month if not more. The food is great and the staff are very friendly and courteous. Have been a customer for 15 to 20 years and the consistency is there, always a great place to eat. The old Soc's - to Island Pizza - back to Soc's. Great family business. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. Very simple menu of pizza, sandwiches and finger foods something for everyone. Kid and family friendly.

After having great pizza while on a New Years trip to NYC my get healthy and start eating better resolution went out the window. I was craving pizza and being new to the area I did really know any spots that would stand up to the pizza I had while in the city. While driving to the car wash I came across Socrates pizza. At first I didn't really know what to think I had just completed philosophy and thought I bet Socrates would have made a great pizza. I walked into the restaurant and was treated like family, you might have thought I was a regular. I got my pizza to go and couldn't resist the temptation to have a slice while driving home. Most people (unlike myself) might have stopped after one slice while drive especially if you were driving a stick like I was. The pizza was excellent! I have also ordered delivery and let me tell ya....The pizza was just as good and the delivery guy climbed a mountain of snow to get to the front door! Now thats service!

Island Pizza in East Greenwich relocated. Same friendly people and staff. Decent prices, good food. You can tell they can take a great amount of pride in their food.

This is one of the only places I know of that has Gyros around the North Kingstown/Coventry areas. I was very excited to see a place like this come to within a reasonable distance of where I work for more lunch options. The owner is a great guy and seems to know a lot about some of his regular customers. He is very talkative and makes sure everyone in the place has what they need. The menue has tons of various options for sammiches, pizzas, and Gyro type dishes. Everything was fairly reasonable in price. Maybe slightly high but if it comes piled in ingredients I could see how they ended up at that price point. I ordered up a standard Gyro and my mouth started watering....it had been so long since I had one. While I was half expecting to see the rotating spit of that mystery meat log I couldn't see it.....not sure if I should panic or not, but I kept calm. Something about seeing the meat shaved off that turning hunk of whatever it is is so satisfying. To my dismay, strips of gyro meat were pulled from a cooler (freezer?). Pre-cut strips were placed on a pan to thaw out and sear up a bit. Very disappointing to see that. I am not sure it really affected the taste in the end but I saw how the sausage was made and it didn't meat (meat, get it?) my expectations. The Gyro was good otherwise, It had a right amount of onions and that cucumber sauce. It was filling and satisfying...despite my other disappointments.

This is a small pizza joint in NK that took over the Subway place when they moved up the street. Although the pizza I got there wasn't bad tasting, the crust is too thin for me, and the prices too expensive. Compared to the other pizza joints around they have a very small specialty pizza list, and, they aren't all that special. Just a standard mix of 3 or 4 toppings. And they run from $16 to $20, way too much for what you get. Nice folks there but too little for too much in my opinion. You can do much better in NK and nearby EG....:)

Socrates Pizza , the folks who ran Island Pizza in East Greenwich, just opened today on Super Bowl Sunday, just south of the West Bay YMCA. Great as I remember - much better than anything else in the area!

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations.
